Applying for grant aid

Do you meet the criteria?

Expression of Interest

If you meet the criteria above please fill in an Expression of Interest (EOI) form and follow the instructions carefully. The form can also be downloaded here. A hardcopy of the form can be obtained upon request.

After the Expression of Interest form is reviewed and deemed eligible a Rural Development Officer will contact you and issue you with an application pack. The Rural Development Officer will help guide you in the application process and will offer assistance and support where necessary.  Please note that being invited to submit a Full Application is no guarantee of grant funding. The Full Application form asks for more detail about the project – building on the information given at the EOI Stage.

Important note
This Expression of Interest form must be completed as a pre-cursor to any application proper for funding under the LEADER programme. This EOI will assist in assessing the eligibility of your proposal and is not to be mistaken for any formal application for funding which may be made by you at a later date.

Failure to complete this form completely will result in a delay in dealing with your EOI and any further processing of any subsequent application arising there from for funding under the LEADER programme.

Completion guidance notes
  • Please complete this form in full. All fields are mandatory.
  • An electronic application will speed up the process. However a signature is legally required and your application will be deemed complete when we receive the signed copy in the post. If you don’t have a printer let us know and we can arrange a time for you to come in and sign the form to assist with this process.
  • The form along with any additional information you feel may be of relevance to your EOI can be posted or hand delivered to DRL at the address below.

Dates for submission
There are times when we ask for specific project types to apply for funding. 40% of the total budget will be spent in this method. The remaining 60%  is spent at any time during the lifetime of the programme (5 years).

Legal signature
Please note a copy of this form will be emailed to you on the address supplied below. The electronic form we receive is valid but we do need it signed for legal reasons. Please print it out from your email (it will retain all your answers) and post it or drop it in to the address below. If you need us to print it out you can call us on 01 807 4203 to arrange a meeting to sign it and bring along relevant documentation.
Privacy Policy
Part or all of the information you provide will be held on computer and hard copy format. This information will be used for the administration of Expression of Interests and producing monitoring returns. Local Action Groups (LAGs) may share information with each other and government departments/agencies to enable them to prevent fraudulent applications or for detecting crime and to co-ordinate processing of complementary applications. It may also be subject to meeting obligations under the Freedom of Information Act as amended. This policy does not affect your rights and your information will be held as prescribed under the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003.

The full application

If it is deemed your project is eligible you will require to complete an application form, an application pack containing an application form and checklist detailing the required documentation to support your application will be sent to you.

The Rural Development Officer will help guide you in the application process and will offer assistance and support where necessary. Please note that being invited to submit a Full Application is no guarantee of grant funding. The Full Application form asks for more detail about the project – building on the information given at the EOI Stage.

Evaluation Committee

The application will to be evaluated by the Evaluation Committee. This is an autonomous committee to the LAG made up of relevant industry experts to all sectors that the LEADER programme interacts with. Each member will score the project based on predetermined criteria and if the project receives 65% or higher it will be recommended for funding.

LAG for approval

After evaluation the project application will be sent to the LAG for approval. They will take on board the recommendations of the evaluation committee but ultimately the LAG has final say on what projects are funded.

Drawdown

Upon approval from the LAG promoters will be issued a contract please note that any expenditure incurred prior to the signing of the contract will be ineligible. The contract will have a completion date of generally six months but this can be extended for larger or ongoing projects please detail this in your application form. A drawdown checklist will also be issued to you and the development officer will assist you in all aspects of the drawdown process.
